I am a forward thinker. Looking forward to an idea, a goal, or a desired outcome is key to my process. If I can visualize a goal, the systems I create to achieve it are energized by what I envision. During my time in graduate school, for instance, I’ve often imagined what it will look and feel like to graduate. But…
I finished a first draft of my dissertation! I still have a long way to go before turning in the final version (cries) but I am excited to have reached this stage (yay)!
This year, then, I will do my best to consider how I can perceive interactions and circumstances in ways that offer respect and compassion to myself and others.

Some days, I still struggle to rest without guilt but I push through the discomfort to honor my mind, body, and soul. Rest is the ultimate self-care. Without rest, I know that I wouldn’t be able to fulfill my goal of working on my dissertation every single weekday.
